Meet outside Sainsbury’s close to the station

Lucy Milner, Edward & Helen’s great-granddaughter, will be leading the walk, largely following the map and guidance kindly provided by Benedict Mackay https://edward-thomas-fellowship.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/1.-Wandsworth-Common.pdf I would highly recommend downloading/reading this document in advance.
This walk is approximately 4kms and will be undertaken at a leisurely pace, taking time for readings, chances to photograph, ask questions etc, en route. The terrain is easy, mostly on pavements and well established paths on Wandsworth Common.
Lunch will be at approximately 12.45/1pm and I would advise bringing a pack up/picnic (remember Sainsbury’s at the walk’s start) which can be eaten on the Common opposite the Hope pub in Bellevue Road. Alternatively lunch is available at the pub but staff assured me that booking ahead is advised. I had a tasty cheese toasty there in March! https://www.thehopepub.co.uk/#/
After lunch (of around an hour) we will begin the return route to Clapham Junction, arriving back at c 3pm.
Please let me know via email lucy.milner@icloud.com if you are planning to attend the walk. There is no need to book a place but it would be good to have an idea of numbers. All welcome, including dogs (in the pub too).. Here’s hoping for a fine, ‘Edward Thomas’, day, but I will be in touch with those with those who have contacted me and via Facebook and Instagram if the forecast looks dire. Also, if anyone would like to do a reading en route please let me know.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Lucy
